Michael – Classical, Flamenco, & Spanish Guitar
Michael is one of Southern California’s Favorite musicians for weddings and special events. His repertoire ranges from Bach to The Beatles, Flamenco to Broadway. He performs at the finest hotels, and was the House Guitarist at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles and the Mission Inn in Riverside.
Michael is an alumnus of University of Redlands School of Music, where he received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Performance and the Presser Publishing Company Talent Award.
He also studied at The American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Michael has performed in Austria, Belgium and throughout the United States. He studied flamenco guitar in Santa Fe, New Mexico and was a regular performer at Hotel La Posada.
Along with his success as a performer, Michael is in great demand as a teacher. He has held the position of Flamenco Dance Accompanist at University of California, Irvine, and was ” Maestro de Guitarra” at the historic Candelas Guitar Shop in Los Angeles for six years.
Larry Latin Guitarist
Born & raised in Southern California, and passionate about music and guitar since a young boy, Larry graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a BM in classical guitar performance studying with David Grimes and Scott Zeidel, as well as Master Classes in Classical guitar with Pepe Romero, and Flamenco guitar with Paco Navarro in Cordoba, Spain.His areas of expertise include Flamenco, classical guitar, salsa, Latin music, rock, jazz and blues.
Larry’s versatility and musical interests continue to deepen over the years; you will find him playing locally in Southern California and in Las Vegas, but he’s also played in Asia, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. His work includes tribute bands), plus solo and ensemble classical and flamenco guitar work.
In addition, Larry has recorded an original full length CD, as well as theme and cues music for ‘Twinkles and Friends”, a soundtrack for Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’, and numerous background tracks for live performances
Guitarist Esteban
Guitarist and composer Esteban grew up in London where he began playing guitar at the age of ten. His love of jazz led him to the music of nylon string jazz guitarists like Laurindo Almeida and Charlie Byrd. The desire to imitate these masters led, in turn, to his studying classical guitar at night school. Esteban earned his M.A. in Music Composition at San Francisco State University where he studied with Pulitzer prize-winning composer Wayne Peterson.
Esteban is a respcted expert on flamenco and classical guitar and has written over 100 articles on the guitar for Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Guitar Player, Fingerstyle Guitar, Classical Guitar, and Dance Magazine, as well as reviews for the San Francisco Chronicle and the Los Angeles Reader.
Since 1996, EC Flamenco has performed in concerts and tablaos across the United States and Canada and in Spain. While there, guitarist Esteban wrote much of the music that became EC Flamencos’ core repertoire. Since then, the group has toured the U.S. and Canada, performed in Spain, collaborated with artists from all over the world, and released a CD featured on NPRs Morning Edition.
